Our Mission

The mission of TAYB is to create a pathway to educational and professional opportunities, for the youth of Miami-Dade County, through the study and performance of dance.

Objectives

  • Serve youth regardless of income level.
  • Reflect the diversity of the community in all programming.
  • Facilitate the removal of obstacles that may impede success.
  • Offer inclusive programming for youth with or without disabilities.

For the past 25 years, Thomas Armour Youth Ballet’s, “Dance as a Vehicle to Success” program, has grown, from a handful of students in South Miami to over 1,000 children across five Miami-Dade County sites with After School Programs. The formula is simple. Deliver programming with a high success rate, build trust, and remove obstacles. The ultimate goal is educated and engaged members of the community.

After School Program Staff

The faculty of the TAYB is among the most experienced and respected in the region. Each has years of experience on stage and off as professionals in the world of classical ballet and modern dance. Many continue to work as artists in the community. Each follows a carefully constructed syllabus of teaching that is developmentally and age appropriate to each group of students. The faculty and staff are well versed in the area of community outreach, directing the recruitment and retention of all students. The teachers and staff  have established a presence and reputation in the neighborhoods, that enhances their ability to provide services.
